Someone recommend me a surf boat?

Post by banzer »

So I was thinking that instead of having two playboats round the side of my house that rarely get used, I might as well swap one for a surf boat, as I probably go to the sea with the family more than I do rivers these days.

I've done a reasonable amount of surfing in a playboat, but only about ten minutes in a surf kayak many years ago which I found very strange.... still I'm open to a challenge.

I'm just over 6' with size 11 feet... any suggestions? Plastic or composite? Many thanks. Rich.

Composite will give you a better choice, far better to use and you´re an ideal weight for a range of boats.

Bullit S is very nice, friendly to use yet a high performer as you progress.

You can find some old Cyclones kicking about, our club has managed to get three and we start folk off in those and then they tend to want their own boat.

I'll second the Bullitt S. Superb all rounder. Works in pretty much all conditions from weak, foofy surf up to sphincter twitching levels. It's fast and easy to paddle out, rolls easily and surfs like a dream

If you fancy something nice and stable I've got two for sale.

A Mega Trident in Xtech layup practically unused for £650.
Very fast and smooth. A doddle to roll.

A Mega Tico Lite in amazing condition for a 19 year old boat (kept bagged from new) for only £250 (includes bag)
Even faster and easier to roll. (Not as easy to turn!)
You'll fit in both with ease.

If you've got a reasonable budget then a composite Bullitt S or Bullitt Xs would be an excellent choice.

Hi I have a Nomad Revolution that I would probably sell as I don`t use it. Not too far from you could meet you at Saltburn if you want to try it out could meet you there even if you did`nt want my boat you could still try it or you could have a shot on my Waveski then decide if you really do want a Surf kayak or maybe a Waveski.

Cheers
