Post by Maverick777 » Tue Nov 14, 2017 9:34 am

Hi,

Re: Protective Skid Plate Strip ( Reed ChillCheater ) & Waterproof Reflective Strips

Has anyone used Protective Skid Plate Strip c/o Reed ChillCheater ? Or is their something similar and just as neat? And for high visibility are there waterproof self adhesive reflective strips to attach to the Kayak?

Cheers

Maverick, What type of kayak are you looking to use the Skid Plate strips on? Is it a composite sea kayak or??

Best Wishes

Hi...

If its a brand new boat you may well be better to use it for a few weeks /months before you start to try and stick stuff to it.

The boat will be coated in a release agent, this is to help get it out of the mould easily. Once it has been used, it will then start to wear off and any scratches you get in the mean time will help it to stick properly.

However, having read about the strip you mention, if you wish to take it off you do need to hear it. If your not that great with a blow torch doing this, you may well cause more damage to the boat than good is done in the first place.

I have got a Tarpon 130 and its been used for about 3-4 years.. this generally sees very little wear on the keel line and it is not something i would worry about to much

Happy Paddling...

Cheers

James
