Yesterday evening I went for a paddle with some mates from a local canoe club. The Severn is still high at 0.8m but a lot lower than it has been.
Just below Arley we came across a red canoe pinned around a rock (Lat:52.414841, Long:-2.3421) its about 20' out from the east bank. Its a bit distorted but looks to be royalex. There are no markings on it from what I can see. As we found it about 8pm, it was raining again and the river was coming up again, we left it where it was. I have phoned a frend in SARA, they did not know about it but do now.
Then we found a green open canoe washed into bushes on the east bank, it looks to be something like a colman or pelican (Lat:52.414841, Long:-2.3421). I guess that its come adrift from moorings from the properties up stream.
I hope that they both have just come adrift and nobody has had an epic on the river recently.
Gear gone astray ...
