2009-2010 Burn

Post by Nev Hallam »

Just bought a used Pyranha burn, I don't collect until the weekend, I asked what model it was 09-10, as I know that's when they altered the spec. They guy just said he'd bought it in 2010, this however doesn't mean it's a 2010 model. Is there any way of knowing by looking at it, I know how hard it is to tell the difference by volume or rocker trajectories etc. is there any obvious way of knowing?

The Fireballs on the back are different

the newer one the logo is just burn written in a fireball where as the older one the fire ball is in a black diamond shape.

Hope this helps

Joe

Depends on which ever suited your paddling the most.

Although everybody raved about the newer model, when I tried the the newer model ( all be it in a swimming pool) , I actually preferred my older model. Probably down to familiarity!
Have now converted to a Dagger nomad and love it, although being a displacement hull I didn't think I would , BUT I do :-)

New boat, old boat. Spot the difference!

You can tell the difference visually as outlined above. There are definitely some subtle differences paddling them, but they are pretty easy to adapt to, so I wouldn't put too much weight either way. The biggest difference I've noticed is hull speed - slight faster in the Mk1 model. Scientific experiment: sit in the hole half way down the Olympic Course (perhaps a hundred times in each boat in total). The old boat would know which way was forwards and surf you to the shoulder. The new boat needs a little dabble with the paddle to get it going.

The new looks much easier to roll for starters, the old looks like the edges may cut ya bloody fingers. New looks sleeker.
See how I get on Ken!

What a boat! Me and Findus crispy Pheners went HPP couldn't believe how good it handles, any doubts I had about the older model have been dismissed, it's like I been driving around in an old Ford XR2 and just been given a Carrera Turbo! Can't wait to paddle it again.

Sorry Mark it was the older model. The guy I had it off had it stored in a shed for 2 years, it's like new!
