Camera Housing

Post by jasenjordan »

Planning on using a high end panny compact with underwater/waterproof housing for taking stills & short video whilst kayaking. Haven't purchased the housing just yet!.. so was wondering if anybody else has used this combo as opposed to the out the box WaterProof cameras.
Experiences with any make, model or camera housing appreciated.

Cheers Jasen

How much is top dollar? What camera do you want to house? I use Subal housings for scuba diving but these are very large and about 3K!
if not inon make some tasty housings as well but these are still tuned for the scuba diving market. Maybe email the manufacturer and ask what they recommend.

If you don't get have a camera maybe look into a olympus Tough cam, there fairly modestly priced and do not require a housing, making them more compact and easy enough to store in your BA.

Got a Panny TZ30 but need to purchase the housing which is costly and bulky... you make a good point about been able to store a camera in your BA for quick access.
The thought of pulling the spray deck to get to the camera now seems a bit of a no go when sitting in small lively eddy's at the bottom of rapids waiting to get a shot!
Think I'll get a peli case for Camera & Camcorder and use waterproof camera and Gopro on the fly.

Thanks for the reply....Jasen
