Any suggestions for linking a pdf file for people to see?

Post by scottdog007 » Sun Apr 15, 2012 8:00 am

Most computers can open a pdf file. Now I have done a trip report in pdf format and I would like people to see it, by either this site, or Facebook etc. Are there sites where I can store this pdf file then link the IMG code etc? Similar to linking a picture file here to UKRGB via photobucket.

Any suggestions please?

In dropbox I need to know their email address beforehand so put into it all the emails for all the people I want to see the pdf file. What I want is on a forum site like here or facebook, possibly just talking to a canoe club or a group of friends via a forum and put a link to the pdf file.

Does your ISP not provide you with some web space?

If you use a free FTP client like Filezilla you can upload to your web space (getting instructions from your ISP) and then distribute the URL.

I use it to host forum Avatars and upload images for Forums that don't need to be anywhere else such as FB.

You can upload a PDF, Open Office or Word document to Google docs and set the share options such that anyone witht he link can see the file. You need to have a
Google account to do this but the people you are sharing with do not need to.

Dropbox for sure.

Put the PDF in the 'public' folder and then right click it and select 'copy public link'. Then just paste the link on here. I did it for my Norway trip report - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15512917/Norway ... %20log.pdf

Ah wow brilliant. I had a google mail account which I never used, i've just reactivated it, uploaded the file, done a 'share' and it works a treat. Nice.

Thanks everyone.
