Hi,

I am looking into going to Canada next year, but can't find any info as to when or where to go. I was thinking of April for various reasons.

Does anyone know where I can get some info from?

Thanks

John

Depends if your after steeper more 'creeky' rivers towards the west coast or big water playboating towards the east coast.

Check out some of the 'Reports' on this website (link at top right of this page)

It's going to still be very cold in April in many areas, but there is still boating to be had.

I'd say

BC/Alberta
Creekin May/June and some afterwards
Playboating June/July also skook is tidal so should go most months

Ontario/Ottawa
High water - Apr-June
Low water - Jul-Sept (low water is really good too)

Quebec
Creekin - spring-summer
Lachine towards the end of the summer - low water is better

Hope this helps.

Apr will be miserably cold. I wouldn't bother. Quebec paddling can start in May around the Montreal area. June - Sept you can do plenty in Quebec / Ontario in Warm weather. BC run start a bit later.

April certainly looks cold on the Ottawa! -
Much nicer paddling it in the summer time and as others have said loads to do there regardless of levels ...
