Creek Boat Bomb Proof Spray Deck Advice

Post by Wavesportzg54 »

Was wondering if people could give their views.

Need a new big deck for my creek boat. Don't want to mess around what is the most solid deck out there at the moment?

Have had these as suggestions:

Snap Dragon EXP Armortex Reinforced With Implosion Bar £160
http://www.rapidkayaks.co.uk/white-wate ... r-i56.html

Rasdex Kevlar Deck with Implosion Bar £60
http://www.rasdex.co.uk/index.php?page= ... &Itemid=46

Cheers

Immersion Research Lucky Charm (or Special K if you do loads of rescues etc and are likely to rip your deck). For Pyranha boats the IR Kling On.

I'm biased but look at any of the new kayak dvds or online videos from tribe/demshitz. Theyre all using them.

Why do you suggest a non rand deck for Pyranha boats?

What are the Implosion Bars made out? can you still use these decks with a freestyle inflateable under them?

Implosion bar is a static bar, so I doubt you would be in a position to put a BIG ball thing under the skirt.

My money would proably be with IR* or Mountain Surf... BUT the RasDex deck is the real deal, and at £60 is possibly the best value for money I've seen in paddling gear (also you could use a freestyle ball with it, as the implosion bar is [with a few minutes of persuasion] removable/replacable).

*I have a five year old IR deck, still dry just really tatty.

I wouldn't faff with any of those decks. Seals are the driest deck on the market. Not cheap though.

That's a very strong claim to make, It's not borne out by the experience of myself and my friends, as documented elsewhere on the myriad spraydeck threads...

The IR webstore is good, but Whitewater the Canoe Centre stock the Lucky Charm as the best rand deck they could find on the market, and it works out cheaper to buy through them than to buy from IR direct (once you add in the cost of postage from the webstore).

I like my Seals deck - just don't put a knife through it the first time you use it.......

Ask Chris what he thinks to his - he uses one on his Burn.
See you on the water!

I've used Pyrahna decks, Playboater decks, Peak decks,Palm decks. (funny how they all begin with P) I'm on my second Seals deck. Only because my first was stolen after I'd had it a year. Was bone dry. I used to think my Nomad leaked till I got the Seals deck. We all treat our kit differently. I think thats why some peole have success with some kit and bad experiences with others.
