New ratchet fitted on ratchet backrest (Jackson)

Post by pickenjohn »

I have an old Jackson 4Fun with a ratchet backrest. The backrest is also sold under various names like Reggie backrest.

One of the ratchets broke. I checked with suppliers who could supply a new backrest for around £50. So took my boat along to the local snow Boarding shop and they sold me a new ratchet for £2. Much better. Eventually got it fitted with a 6mm nut and bolt and so far working fine - the rivets I had and tried initially were too short.

Just thought it might be a useful tip for others.

If you contact Immersion Research, they can usually supply the individual parts as well (ratchets straps, ratchets, etc) - also paddleworks Llangollen have a few bits and pieces for repairing boats. Worth knowing.
