Holme Pierpont
Hi All,
I recently resumed paddling after an extended break and am thinking of paddling the white water course at holme pierpont with a few mates. I've been to their website but can't see any details which weekends are available how much it costs etc. Anyone know the score?
Cheers

Re: Holme Pierpont
Generally they are open for casual paddling after 10am. The salalom guys have the run of the course before 10am. It would be worthwile just giving them a call to check if they have any events on at a weekend which would preclude casual paddling. Also worthwile with the current weather to call them to check if the course is open. High river levels sometimes cause closures.

Please kick me hard if you think this is a silly question, but given that I can't drive or carry any equipment, if I ever find myself at HPP, can kayaks and/or windsails be hired for use on the lake - there's no way I'd go near the whitewater course!

It's down the bottom of this:

Apparently nothing on basically all this month. Always best to give them a call before travelling though.

I'm not aware of any equipment hire at HPP. You can hire demo boats from the Peak shop at the entrance to the grounds of HPP but I'm not sure if you can hire paddles or other equipment. The demo hire is more for boaters trying before buying.

You can hire open canadians and sit on top kayaks as well as sailing boats on the main lake at HPP so long as it has not been booked exclusively for an event or such.
Ring to check avaiability before travelling and press the 'Pay and Play' option on the telephone extension to reach the cabin where they run from.

Thanks for the info, folks. It's mostly in case I'm on a lorry run with my pal and there's some time for a break.

Trying to find up to date and pertinent info online for HPP is a bit like trying to find the lost city of Atlantis....
The amount of questions you get on here about it is testament to that.

As others have said, its £10 for over 18's and its best to ring before you go. I'm pretty sure it'll be flooded at the moment though
Re: Holme Pierpont
If you're heading up after work, after 6PM weekdays it's a fiver :) Normally open till 8 or 9, depending on how many people are about.
