I was sad when I read this news, but even more surprised to see it concerned my old friend Jane. She loved the outdoors and I have many fond memories of trips with her in Europe and the UK.
My condolences to her family and companions on the river.

Jane recently joined our canoe polo club and wholeheartedly threw herself into the sport. She was very friendly and a keen paddler. Our thoughts are with Jane's family and friends at this sad time.

Sarah and I paddled with Jane at university and she was always happy, smiley and enthusiastic not to mention the best minibus driver we had! It is so sad to hear that this has happened our thoughts are with Jane's family and friends, especially those who were with her at the time.

Just heard the news through a friend. Although I hadn't seen Jane for some time I have some fond memories of trips down to the bitches and North Wales with her. My thoughts to her family and loved ones.

I was heartbroken to hear the news.

I've known Jane for over 10 years, and I've paddled with her in Canada, Uganda and New Zealand. I have great memories of eating African delicacies, playboating on the Shotover, riding the Severn bore at dawn, paddling the Ottawa in the evening twilight. It's so hard to accept the loss of someone you've known for so long, because you have a deeper conection with someone who knows where you've come from. I'll miss so many things about Jane, but mostly I'll miss her sense of fun and cheeky giggle, usually when she was teasing me.

The funeral is in Southampton on Saturday, please get in touch if you want more details.

My thoughts go to all those who she left behind, it sounds like Jane was a popular, fun-loving girl who will be missed by many. It highlights the dangers of rivers and the need to be vigilante.
