Alps Accommodation.........Help Please........

Post by Papillon » Mon May 10, 2010 6:25 pm

A group of nine are heading out the Briancon for the first and second week in July.
We are aware and know various campsites in this area.

But we are trying for find some Accommodation to hold all of us.
We are hoping to be based in Briancon, but if not somewhere close.
Does anybody know of something we could rent.

Thanks.

I went on abritel.fr and there are quite a few places that are ski chalets in winter and would do large kayaking groups. We have got a place that sleeps up to 11 (but that would probably be too cosy) for about £840 quid for the week.

good hunting

Speak to Kate Bankes on "kate at hautesalpes.biz" and take a look at their website Alpine Playground for lots of accommodation options in Briançon. The Bankes have been living in the French Alps for some years now, and amongst having lots of adventures, their run a number of accommodations within the Upper Durance Valley.

Good luck and enjoy

Hi,

We have accomodation in the old town of Briancon - which can cater for 2-14 people . Feel free to take a look at http://www.alpineplayground.com

There is a seven bedroom house with lots of showers, large kitchen, storage area for bikes and kayaks etc in the Old Town of Briancon which is excellent for paddling groups. Prices between £10-15 per person per night. Feel free to give us a ring.

We are an English family who have lived in the area for 10 years and have lots of ideas on hte web-site as to what activtieis as well as kayaking you can do. Thomas is also a French qualified kayak instructor.

I've stayed here a few times
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Reside ... sQaO4LmfBA
Quite basic but clean and comfy and above all cheap.
Rooms sleep up to six and it's right in the heart of Briancon on the banks of the lower Guisanne just before the confluence with The Durance.
Life is short. Filled with stuff.

I found camping worked quite nicely, just have a jumper handy or you'll wake up freezing.

To give you and idea of costs Kates Banks is charging us £950 for the week of 12th-19th June, so supsect further into summer will be more. By the way people kate is selling up so this may not be an option next year - bummer as it is a superb place that sleeps up to 12.
