Clearly these people are ill informed... I'm sure they wouldn't find the idea of someone whp's never there even half as attractive.

Unless I'm the only paddler who's an absentee boyfriend every time someone rings up with the magic words "going boating?"; I seem to remember most surfers and climbers are much the same too.

Hmm not sure I agree with the kayaking part.... Yes at the Uni canoe club and then working for PGL being one of the best (ok lets go modest and say the best ;-)) paddler around may have helped a little but the really world.... Me: "I like white water kayaking", woman: "ah you like playing in boats...... "...winner....

For years my wife has said that I should surf more and paddle less as surfing is a sexier sport, now she's backed up by statistics :(

Actually climbing & ww rafting (kayak) are the 9th & 10th photos in the article...

It is a survey of members of this website http://www.clubbz.com/ which is about sports clubs..

It's not true. Don't know about climbing but it does not apply with canoeing. You're in with a much better chance if you just go to the gym every evening. Girls tend to care about the muscles, not how you got them, and I reckon many would be put off by how much the average paddler spends on boating equipment.

Though perhaps it's just down to my weird little cowardice paradox; I'm happy to go on whitewater, but still get nervous when it comes to the ladies.

No! No woman, who wasn't into paddling herself would like to date a paddler..
My other half just told me...

Her short list of reasons (before I tuned her out and drifted off, thinking about paddling) was:

You are anti-social people who rejoice when it's pouring down.
Wearing kayaking kit is possibly the least flattering look ever concieved.
You make the car smell.
You keep vanishing at weekends.
You stop us being able to fit a car in the garage.
Instead of a holiday together you book a trip to the Alps with your buddies (once in 16 years and still I have to feel guilty about it!!).
You never buy yourself any proper clothes unless you can wear 'em before during or after paddling.
Most of your sports weekends involve as much drinking as sport...
etc, etc, etc,

That's it I'm going to take up climbing and football, just as soon as I've bought myself a shitty stick to beat off the ensuing wave of hot chicks....

What about the statistics for female paddlers? Hot or not?!! Although theres probably fewer to choose from, I wonder what the ratio between men and women is? I think white water paddling certainly helps in the fancying department....strength and fitness more than anything. Especially if theyre managing to carrying an open single handed on their head or fishing me out of the river when ive capsized in a stopper :-) (although it was their fault for distracting me in the first place with theyre goddamn hotness hahaha)

Not sure, I certainly have met some very nice girls who paddle. Then again, one has paddled grade 4 stuff in Norway and another has done the Upper Dart, which makes anything I can come up with very unimpressive indeed.

Why would you want to put a car in a garage?

Me neither. Boardies, thermals and dry kit are ok, but I cannot work the wetsuit look.

I had kind of hoped girls would find it refreshing that we choose not to spend all our money on Jack Wills, Topshop and all the rest, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
