Look out!

Post by Kayak-Bloke »

They have 'post it' notes and are not afraid to use 'em...
Image

Parked my car by a river today; came back to find this on my window.

For those who can't read the scrawl it says " You have been reported to the police and the angling club for illegal canoeing on private water".

So far I have manged to evade capture but it's only a matter of time now.

I'm heading for the border and going on the lamb...

or alternatively I may just carry on as normal.

Hmmmm does anyone know a good brief..? :-)

I'm more interested in trying to make out the imprinted words which are visible behind that mindnumbingly terrifying threat.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps KB could do the old "running a pencil lightly across the paper" trick to see if the scrawl comes though? Unless of course he filed it appropriately or recycled it? A bit "hard and shiny" for recycling perhaps - -

Happy days - illegal canoeing - what will they think of next?

Last bit looks more like "Committee to trespass" so I think it's just a different wording of the same message.

I think Parksey will be able to answer this if he's on later. He also parked next to this river and got a note. His suggested he had been reported not only to the police but to the angling club committee for trespass.

I'm worried he will get an action at the next committee meeting and not know about it. That's just unfair....

PS. for those that asked: It was the river Ogmore.

Have they managed to pass some sort of Trespass Act do you think?

Do let us know how it goes when you are summoned before the Committee.

You'd think they'd have some proper notes printed up - ideally with details of the Committee on them - so much more professional than scrawling a note on a bit of paper.

Were you canoeing - or kayaking? I presume the latter, so you'll be fine.

They reported you to the police for what? surely if they put that on your windscreen you wern't there so they had no evidence you were actualy paddling, so in essence they are going to look like fools for reporting a car for having roof bars and being parked next to a river, i wonder what the policeman they spoke to said about it?

"Angling Ass" does seem appropriate.

Cheers boys for a top notch morning - I am no longer a river virgin! Nor am I now an angling ars*hole virgin, (I know that sounds a bit wrong but hey ho). I've just read an article in the latest, 'Canoe and Kayak' magazine and it seems as if they feel the same about cyclists, dog walkers, walkers in general and people with push chairs so I don't think we should take this too personally; however its only a short step from the river bank and cycle path to world domination! Oh, I forgot, only in this country! See Rhys - I was listening!

But just look at how hard the author of those notes was pressing, smacks of barely controlled fury.

Any handwriting expert will tell you that those three underlines mean he needs to get to an anger management course as quickly as possible.

Coffee all over keyboard :-)

Whenever I see anything about being reported to the committee it always reminds me of the old program "Wheeltappers and Shunters Social club" and the guy with the flat cap and the fire bell calling out "Members of the committee".
Edit: This is the guy Clickety Click

That'd be Colin Compton if I remember correctly. If only I'd started paddling around then instead of watching the Wheeltappers and Shunters I might be a little better at it now!
