Chicago whitewater guides

Post by furby » Fri Dec 19, 2008 6:37 pm

Hi,

Does any one know of any guiding companys in Chicago in the states?
Looking to have a couple of days paddling as part a trip in late march next year. I need a company that I can hire a boat and paddle, but my personal kit I can take with me.

Would be wanting to do Grade 4 and abit of grade 5 or playboatings.

I have had a google search but if anyone could suggest/recomend a company I would be really grateful.

There isn't much paddling at all in Illinois, so you might find it hard to find any stores / guides.
Here is the AW guide:

This might help find a guide/store, but they may not be in Chicago.

You may also find it is still pretty cold and snowy in March too.

I have visited Chicago 3 times recently and been unable to find any whitewater. Illinois is as flat as a pancake. Seakayaking on the lake is possible but they may still have snow in march! This is central USA and they have cold winters.

Best thing I found in Chicago in september was the ladies beach volleyball. Well worth cycling up the lake shore to watch.
