Fixing dry clothing

Post by Sophie » Wed Apr 02, 2008 12:34 pm

My dry trousers are beginning to wear along the edge of the seam tap around my knees. I was wondering how I could go about patching these up to prolong their life. I was thinking of sewing a patch over the top, or just using some aquasure (will it stick properly?) Has anyone got any experience with this?

Thanks in advance, Sophie

I gaffa taped the seams on mine on the inside. It sort of worked, but came off again after a while. Some companies do re-taping I think?

Gore tex self adhesive patches. I had the same problem, I think, and re-taping won't help, as it's the fabric that's been worn by the tape, and not a problem with the tape itself. If you do stitch a patch over, smear the back of the stitching with seam sealer to get it back waterproof again.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

This works, had the same problem with my trousers and now they are totally dry.

This is exactly the problem. I'll give the gore-tex patches a go then. Cheers!
