Loch Doon south to Kirkudbright

Post by wildtraks » Thu Feb 15, 2018 6:37 pm

Has anyone kayaked from the head water stating from the pump station at Loch Doon down to the water of deugh (carsphairn) through Kendoon loch on to the water of Ken through St Johns town of Dalry, Loch Ken onto the River Dee to the coast at Kirkudbright. Some portage needed at Kendoon (you can take the water of deugh of water of ken here) Carsfad loch and Earlstroun loch. Or is it better just to start at St Johns Town and miss all the portage.

Paddled Carrick Lane and Ness Glen. Paddled on Loch Doon itself and cannot remember being able to paddle towards the Water of Deugh. I have also paddled the Water of Deugh.

Would be interested to know if it is possible. There are a number of hydro schemes as you move south.
