Unpinning boats

Post by John K » Fri Feb 02, 2018 12:09 pm

A quick question about unpinning boats: in a situation that requires a 3:1 to release the boat, how often have you needed to move it more than a metre or so to get it unstuck?

Normally you only need to move it a couple of inches to get it "free".

Only time was with a canoe, not a kayak. I guess we had to move the canoe a metre or less.

Lots of stretch in the rope needed to be taken in as well, as the pin was in mid-stream.
