Canals Rivers Estuarys & Inshore - What to buy?

Post by JimT » Fri Jan 01, 2016 2:23 pm

After spending much of my youth on the water I have decided some 30 years later to get back out there. As the title suggests, nothing too demanding and living in the SW I have a fair selection of all to choose from. A year or two back I paddled a new Easky 13 and am kicking myself now as I haven't seen any secondhand for sale for ages. Don't really want a 15 footer so I'm guessing if no Easky 13's appear in the SW before April (the ones that have are bloody miles away), I will have to bite the bullet and buy new. Been looking at the Islay 14, do you reckon this be a good boat for what I want and is there any others to consider? Ta

Quite OK with my Dagger Stratos 14.5ft..seems to be similar to what you are looking for..New for around £630, Used and a New seconds boat quality about £550...Large and small sizes and a few demos seem to be around..

Have a look at the Perception Carolina. I have an Easky and a friend has the Carolina, they are about the same size and seem to be similar boats.

After going on a couple of sea kayaking trips in Scotland went out and bought a full blown sea kayak. This only got used touring on canals, lakes and rivers. Bought my wife a 12ft Carolina to help her keep up and found it so comfy I ended up getting a second one for myself. That was best part of 5 years ago and still paddling them all over the country.
Good luck with your search.
