Last minute Insurance

Post by eeonz » Sat Mar 07, 2015 4:58 pm

Apologies, but having an issue with insurance at the minute.

I'm in the Alps, decided to go skiing tomorrow and found last minute that I'm not covered. Two problems: companies that won't insure whilst already overseas and companies that need 2 days before making a claim. Can anybody recommend a company that should be ok for both?

I only ask here, because somebody must have had the same problem before, replacing the word "ski" with "kayaking"

Thanks

Have you tried snowcard or ski club? I'm pretty sure snowcard cover is instant and you can do it all on line without needing to speak to anyone.

If you're in France, just ask at the lift ticket office for a 'Carte Neige' - that covers you for rescue off the slopes. If not in France, I would be surprised if other countries don't have something similar. And your EHIC wil cover your medical costs if you get hurt - assuming you have one and it's in date.

World Nomads insurance will provide cover, even if you are already on a trip away from home.

Would they cover car-surfing Rich?

To be honest, I have no idea... Haven't found one that would so far!

Strange how that sport never took hold... I heard it can be a pain in the ass to get the hang of.

Thanks for the input all. The short of it is, you can only really get instant cover whilst overseas if you are adding to a pre-existing policy. Dog Tag, world nomads etc. Most have a 2 day anti-fraud protection.

Luckily I was able to buy insurance in the resort.
