Never Kiss a Man in a Canoe

Post by Jokie » Sat Dec 06, 2014 7:11 pm

Advice from Girl's Own Paper, 1895, as mentioned on QI last night - “It surprises us to find that a girl sufficiently educated to write and spell well should be so deplorably ignorant of the common rules of society to think that she may go out alone with a young man in his canoe.”

This and other pearls of wisdom appear in Never Kiss a Man in a Canoe: Words of Wisdom from the Golden Age of Agony Aunts by author Tanith Carey.

Wise words? Do we have any examples of young men getting young women into trouble in canoes? Or vice versa? ... 0752226827

I met my better half through paddling. She beat me in a race.

Met my boyfriend four years ago when he was running intro to kayaking sessions at uni - I nearly drowned during the capsize drill. Despite this, a few months later he broke into my halls of residence to take me on a 6am kayak trip, and since then I haven't been able to shake the kayaking bug or the man :D
