Flying Norwegian Airlines

Post by ThomasL » Mon Jun 23, 2014 10:29 pm

Hi All,

Planning another trip to Norway, was wondering if anyone had any experience of flying boats with Norwegian Airlines?

Looking at their restrictions online if I call the boat a surfboard then the individual dimension limits seem to be OK. However the length + height + width is supposed to be less than 300cm, which all creekboats exceed. Anyone got any useful tips?

Cheers,

Tom

A friend flew Edinburgh to Bergen with Norweigen on Monday and checked his creekboat in as a surfboard with no issues. Me and 2 others are hopefully doing the same on Friday... Fingers crossed!!

Just in case anyone has any doubts about this option in future, Norwegian seem to be great about taking kayaks. They weren't weighed or measured at either end (on the way back the boats were about 10kg over). Also managed to check a paddle bag on as standard hold luggage costing a massive £10 excess.

Everyone else I spoke to seemed to have positive experiences - hope this post helps someone on their adventures next year...
