North East accomodation help needed

Post by mountain_bikerider »

Hi all I am traveling up to the North East (Barnard Castle area) to complete my MWE next month. I am trying to keep accommodation costs down for the weekend so am looking for suggestions for camping that will be open in the area, cheap bunkhouses or places I will be able to camp in my van for the weekend.
Any ideas will be gratefully received

If you just want somewhere to park your van to sleep in it for the night, you could try here by the High-Low get-in, or you could see if the Bowlees Carpark is open at night and stay there?

NZ062150 is the car park at the Abbey of Abbey Rapids fame. I've used it without problem before.

The landlord at the Fox and Hounds in Cotherstone has been known to let folk sleep in his car park provide you buy a few beers or dinner in his lovely public house! Can recommend the Cotherstone Cheese Chicken! Very tasty!
