Passed all the activity at Crickhowell Bridge on the way back from a good day further up the Usk, then heard the news - took the shine off the day somewhat. Hoping and praying for a good outcome.

That is an entirely different story...

Hope that all turns out well in the ongoing search.

Gareth was a great guy and I'll miss him.

His girlfriend is keen to get his paddle back for the memories. It's a black Streamlyte with all the labels worn off. If anyone finds it please PM me.

Terrible news, my thoughts go out to his friends , his family, and those who paddled with him. They must be feeling absolutely awful about this outcome.

I used to live with Gareth in Leamington. Really lovely bloke. Totally gutted to hear about this, and on a river I've paddled a few times with the same club.
Thoughts are with his girlfriend, family and friends.

Very sad to hear that his safety gear drowned him, I know people who wear a throwline on their waist and have seen towlines connected on their BA ring, theyve shown me its on a release cord but I've seen a quick release fail before, just goes to show where to keep your gear. :(

Mark, I don't think this is the appropriate thread for a discussion on safety gear. It is a valid point and I recall there have been discussions on situations like this with safety gear on this forum befor.

My Condolences with the family and friends.
