Request for More Northern Photos for English White Water

Post by Jim Pullen » Fri Nov 29, 2013 7:03 pm

Hi all,
Franco has just sent me the full PDF for the draft of the NE section of EWW v2. I've received some nice pics so far, but there's a few gaps in the sub sections. Can anyone out there provide me with high res versions of any of the following rivers:

Tyne (Main river, Ouse Burn, Devil's Water, Derwent, Wansbeck)
South Tyne (Main River and all tribs)
Washburn!
Aire Wave, Linton Locks, Sowerby WWC on the Calder, Hebden Water or Harden Beck (goit stock)

Also any of the rivers in the Lancashire/north Manchester area for the North West section.

Thanks!
Done any NE/NW rivers not on the site? PM me!

Jim - try asking on Song of the Paddle forum, some of those rivers are more popular with canoes, and there are a shed load of washburn videos over there, some of them must have stills cameras too :)

One of Linton Locks. Annoying lens smudge could probably be touched up on photoshop or something? Image

Correct, it's a few hundred yards above Winston Bridge.

Ok, a bit embarrasing not to recognise the run closest to my house!
We've got a lot of pics of the Tees already thanks, now just after the specific rivers in my first post.

Thanks Martin, no probs with the North Tyne, it's the South Tyne, together with the stuff below Hexham and all the tribs we're short on.

Uh Oh - deadline approaching?

Looks like you are going to have to stage some photos by paddling the missing rivers, or at least getting on any roadside bits for some easy photos.... :-)

Are you having photos for every river Jim? We thought about that until we realised it would double the thickness of the book!

Not every river, but trying to get a couple for each sub-section.
As expected, there's tons out there for Teesdale and Swaledale, but the others are more tricky to get hold of!

I have some photos of the Ouse Burn whilst it was medium-high one time (I live right by it), but unfortunately not with anyone paddling it. They are on my computer at home so will send them accross when I get in if you like?

I also filmed a few sections and stuck it together for anyone wanting to see it in higher water (And it was my first time using my new camera :D)....

For a bit of perspective on the drop (in low water this time)....

Thanks for all the offers so far, I'm getting there...

Can I add the Coquet (and area) to the list? Only have low res stuff at the mo...

Also still after Lanchashire/north Mancs stuff - surely someone has some high quality Burrs and Ribble pics at least?

Jim,
We've got more Burrs Pictures than you could possibly imagine. Enough for Volumes 1 - 4 of Irwell guide.
I'll send you some of the main features as soon as I can (definitely in next 2 days)

Andy

Thanks Andy, email me over a small selection of the best please. If you have any of the Roch to go with your guide as well, that would also be appreciated. The text is all with the editors now, and I think the draft for the NW section will be glued together later this week.

Is that really Linton? Looks very different in flood! Some nice pics, who do I need to ask about the possibility of using one?
