Which Deck?

Post by Modelmakerman »

The time has come to retire my ageing and leaky Nookie Absolute Deck.

After a little research Ive come up with 2 contenders for a replacement:

Snap Dragon Armortex Kayak Spray Skirt with Implosion Bar
http://www.outdoorplay.com/Snap-Dragon- ... losion-Bar
or
Seals Pro Rand Skirt
http://www.sealsskirts.com/prod_detect.php?i=19

Any one have any experience of either or both? Both have great reviews but Im struggling to decide on one over the other.

I paddle up to grade 4 WW at the moment, play boat and surf. Boats are Jackson Villain S, Bliss-Stick Flip-Stick (possibly being replaced with a Wavesport Fuse x56 soon), Jackson Rockstar M (2012).

I use a Seals [1.7] on my Karma and Villain before that. Also on Stomper 80. Never had even the side come off - and on some reasonably big drops. Super dry too.

I have several snap dragon decks one of which is an 8 year old kevlar deck with implosion bar that is still bombproof, it doesn't leak, there no signs of it wearing out and its never imploded.

Well worth the money,

You need and XL Snapdragon deck for a Karma

Also I will be supplying a full range of Seal's equipment in the coming months.

The seals are easy to put on, you can get them online delivered for £98.

I have that exact Snapdragon deck, bought ~8 years ago. Still in very good nick, no water gets past it, implosion bar is in a place where I can still use the deck with the overthruster on my Jed. This deck has seen some hard use as a safety boater on 3-week university club trips to the Alps, as well as twice or three times a week in pool sessions.

The only thing I've seen to deteriorate in that much use is the tapes on the seams are a little loose but I've latexed the seals and they are fine.

If I had to replace it in the morning, it would be with another Snapdragon armortex deck. Absolutely brilliant value to me for the cost.
