Very useful video.
Hopefully something no paddler will come across but when i did a few years ago the issue of putting a breath into the patent and finding them blowing water back out on the return breath is very disconcerting, just remember getting oxygen into them is the most important thing.
Can only urge paddlers to keep there first-aid up to date and at the front of there minds, Its very easy to let it slip.
Cheers.
Rich.

really useful, especially for those of us who have only done HSE first aid in the workplace courses that don't include drowning (for most workplaces at least!). Thanks for posting!

He's nicely summarised the differences between drowning and cardiac resuscitation. It also pointed out that there is a European Association of Surfing Doctors, which made me wonder if there was a European Association of Kayaking Doctors that I could join. As far as I can see from a quick google search there doesn't seem to be. Does anyone know of any organisation like this? Are there any other paddling medics out there interested in forming one?
