G1/2 rivers in Europe winter/late autumn

Post by kayaksrcool »

Hi, I'm looking for an easy Grade 1/2 river (more consistent g2) in Europe that I can paddle during winter whitewater season , any suggestions?

Suspect the reason you've not had any responses is because most UK boaters wouldn't head off for their european paddling trips in autumn/winter.
There's probably loads to choose from. Might be worth looking at the ususal summer destinations, except you'll be way more likely to have them to yourself.
Main thing to be aware of is that you might have higher water than in summer. ~
I've done the Ardeche Gorge in March/April before the season started and it was a completely different experience to the summer with literally noone about!
There'll be similar rivers; Dordogne, Allier and Tarn which I'm sure would all go in the winter, just need to wrap up a bit warmer (drytrousers/drycag rather than shorts and teeshirt)!

As a staarter for ten, get this book: https://www.whitewaterthecanoecentre.co ... -180-p.asp Should give you some inspiration!
