Recommendations for a creek boat please - small paddler

Post by Kevin Cooper »

As per the title, suggestions for a creek boat for a paddler 5'2" tall and 50Kg in weight.

Light and nimble would be preferred so that handling on and off the water wasn't too much of a struggle but with enough volume in the boat to ride through waves and not catch a tail edge.

Thanks,

Many thanks, some interesting options there including some I didn't know about. More choice than I expected!

Happy to hear of any other suggestions.

EXO T-Rex, in small, also suits your weight.

Thanks, it's a little bigger than some but a possible contender. Ideally I would want circa 50 - 55Kg to be in the middle of the paddler weight range.

Good to know there are options.

Wavesport Diesel 60 looks like a possible option in terms of paddler weight sitting in the middle of the manufacturers spec, plus second hand should be an option whereas the above suggestions are all current model boats.

Any personal experiences of the Diesel 60 positive or negative to suggest if this is a good option?

Thanks,

I have been using a diesel 80 for years in the Himalayas it suits my size. I know it's a good shape so don't see why the 60 would be any different. I also use a recon. Hope that helps.

Small Nomad, cracking little creek boat. Remember to demo all you fancy to get the one that suite your padding style.

Thanks, are you referring to the new nomad 8.2? Specs do look good in terms of paddler weight but it’s new boat money! Liking the diesel 60 option as should be able to get a used one.

Although since looking over the last week haven’t seen any yet.

Both the original and the new Nomad 8.2 are good boats that you won't go wrong with.
