KW7 Kayak

Post by Dave Manby »

We am looking for an original KW7 slalom kayak. To be original it has to have been built by Streamlyte Mouldings and so will have to be pre 1971 or 1972 - can't quite remember when Streamlyte stopped trading. We want the boat for a museum of kayaks. The KW7 was the first real classic kayak - it was the Dancer of its day.

I don't have an original, but if a 'copy' (I suspect it was built by the college I rescued it from) is any use to you, let me know.

Pity, I flogged one from our club last year on ebay along with a little junior boat also by Streamlyte.

Dave - haven't seen a KW7 for years so no help there sorry.

However, I did visit a superb canoe museum a couple of years back in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Well worth looking at their set-up if you are planning something for the UK. See: http://www.canoemuseum.net/

Well you may have a bargain because there are (strange) people out there who would like one to relive their youth! Classic boat of the 1960s slalom. I know some one looking for a pristine one for his collection of vintage boats .....

Someone called Phil Wier from Deva Canoe Club posted pics of paddling a reconditioned kw7 on Chester wier last year. Might be worth following up?
