Anyone know dates for releases on the Awe this year? The SCA website isn't very helpful atm.

The existing freshet management agreement between the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and the Operator of the Awe Barrage, Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), requires that one freshet occurs in each month of July, August and September delivering a set volume over a period of two days where the flow to the River Awe including the compensation is increased to 1,500,000 cubic metres/day.

Following recent discussions between SEPA and SSE it has been agreed that these freshets will occur at the following dates and times subject to the availability of stored water:

8am July 17th until 8am July 19th

8am Aug 14th until 8am Aug 16th

8am Sept 18th until 8am Sept 20th

SSE will endeavour to notify SEPA on the Friday preceding the proposed freshet whether there are likely to be any issues with the availability of water and therefore the delivery of the freshet. SEPA readily acknowledges the difficulty in forecasting the rainfall in the catchment of the scheme and accepts the uncertainty that arises from this forecasting and that freshets may therefore need to be cancelled, postponed or curtailed at relatively short notice.

If you require further information about these proposals please contact your local SEPA office in Lochgilphead at 01546 602876.

The SCA site has the only freshet release dates that they were aware of until an email from SEPA on 6July.
That information has been distributed across the Access Committee and will be updated on the SCA site in due course.
The SCA site can only report what it has been told about!

Not that I am aware of, but please respond to the hydro- freshet SCA consultation (details on the SCA site), it may not change anything, but if no-one responds, they are clearly not interested!
