"Scotland TranServ have been commissioned by Transport Scotland to replace the A82 Allt Chonoghlais bridge on the Kinglass river, south of Bridge of Orchy, and this is now at an advanced design stage with construction currently programmed to start in August 2012. The works are estimated to take a year to complete"
This will involve significant disruption to road users and potentially dangerous situations for paddlers.
A new, temporary road bridge is being built upstream of the current road bridge.
It is intended that clear warning signs will be placed on the river upstream, but as we all know, the River Kinglas (Glen Orchy) frequently floods so care must be taken. It is not recommended that paddlers go under either of the bridges during the construction period.
