New gauge on Spean

Post by chrisdickinson » Sun Oct 18, 2009 11:51 pm

Have put in a more visible gauge at Spean Bridge, with same intervals. We'll see how well it lasts.
Painted up the old gauge a few years back but the paint peeled quickly so have gone for plastic this time.

You can see the gauge at:

A/WWSR 4/5star (river & sea) with the best!

Now you mention it, it was really easy to read the level the other day, in the past you had to start near the top at a number you could read and work your way down counting the major intervals (unless the beach was visible). Not sure if the river dropped from 4.5 to 3.5 in the time it took to run down from the lower Roy or if I just misread the gauge first thing in the morning - my own inability in the morning is always an option!

Thanks Chris, very useful!
