Re: Thurso River
Hazard on Thurso river .... I've been paddling Thurso River for a long time now but only noticed yesterday for the first time that the rocky conglomerate bank on the far right hand line on the rapid below Dirlot Cemetry is badly undercut by about 1200mm in places !! The undercut is only an issue at very low river levels, say below 0.25m, and even then as the distance from the bedrock to the top of the undercut is about 400mm it would be unlikely that a boat or paddler could get stuck in it - however I would recommend that any groups running the right hand line inspect and set up protection prior to running it. I'll take a camera with me next time I do that section of the river and post the photos !! The SCA have been updated.
