River Wye Boughrood Take Out Problem?

Post by Matto » Thu May 10, 2018 1:21 pm

I was driving along the Wye and happened to notice that the normal parking area for the take out at Boughrood has been totally redeveloped. The old school is replaced with a new one, the car park has moved and there is an entrance barrier now. Not sure how this will pan out in the long term, but it looks a lot different...

I know Builth to Boughrood is not the most exciting bit of WW in Wales, but its always a reliable option when nothing else is running.

Subject: NO PARKING for canoeists at Llyswen School!

Paddlers on the UPPER WYE: please note revised parking arrangements at LLYSWEN / BOUGHROOD (South of Builth Wells):
PLEASE DO NOT PARK in front of Archdeacon Griffiths Primary School in Llyswen (although you may still drop-off there).
Alternative parking is available on the roads in Boughrood village (across the bridge) - but please continue to EARN A WELCOME for paddlers by parking considerately, changing discreetly, avoiding public peeing and taking your litter home (there have been recent complaints about all these).
The School Governors have asked us to make paddlers aware that, since the school has been re-built, the car park is no longer available to ad-hoc canoeists (sorry!) - and parking in front of the school obstructs access for staff and emergency services.
Organised groups may still be able to use the school car park (for a contribution to school funds) - arrange in advance by phoning 01874 754334 during school hours.

I would have thought a great way for paddlers to EARN A WELCOME would be to use the car park at weekends in exchange for a donation to the local school .... and to use the shop in Boughrood or the pub in Llyswen.
Canoeing - bigger boat, broken paddle, more skill!
