Saturday 21.11.15 ran the Lower Grywne today. Environment Agency gauge read 0.27. We portaged the weir, every thing else ran fine, a few trees to be careful on, but no portages for trees or fences. Jason

0.27 sounds low - I've always thought of 0.4 as reasonable minimum level. Is it really reasonably scrape-free at that level? I'm guessing you have to carry down to the confluence of the stream at the put-in rather than paddle down the stream?

We don't seem to have a guide to the Grywne on this site, anyone fancy submitting one?

Hi Dave, we used the on line environment agency river gauge for the Grywne. At 0.27 we floated down the trib on to the Grywne it was a bit scrapy, however I was in a fairly new boat and didn't leave too much plastic behind! The trib would not go much lower though. The rest of the run was fine, more water would be more fun though! Jason

Paddled lower today. Big water, sun shining, no trees, no fences, bliss!

Just been told by a mate walking that there is a big tree across the whole river. Potentially nasty they said. Jason

I walked along the river yesterday. There are two huge beech trees down and across the river - totally impassible at any level. They are about 450m upstream of the Llangenny road bridge and 250m dowstream of a small arched stone footpath/track bridge over the river.

Trees mentioned above still there (after the small bridge there are 2 ledge drops, then the trees are on a corner). Couple more trees further upstream, one on the Grwyne Fechan just before it joins the main river & the other downstream of there.
