Re: RIVER COLWYN

The elderly gent isn't there any more - no big surprise I suppose, I last paddled this 13 years ago and he was elderly then. The house has new owners who have put a wooden cabin next to the river and a new gate. To avoid any problems we parked on the other side of the river and launched from that side, but the owner still came out to harass us when we returned for the car. She claimed that she had seen 14 minibuses full of paddlers driving up and down the lane at over 40 mph and they were fed up and were banning canoeing from their land. It wasn't clear whether she owned the land on the other side of the river, but we let her know that there was little she could do to prevent us from paddling there again anyway. So just a heads up to keep a low profile really.
Also the gauge appears to have gone, and there are trees in Dragons Tail. Still a decent run and one that deserves to get run more often. And if the Colwyn is running you just have to do Aberglaslyn afterwards.
