Pont Cyfyng, Third Drop Photos

Post by sirswimalot » Thu Oct 24, 2013 2:41 pm

Hello

I have searched this forum and the internet extensively for photos of the infamous third drop at Pont Cyfyng. Unfortunately I can find none.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone who has some posted them.

Hi Mark thanks for the link. I have seen these, and they are fantastic photos, but none of them show the third drop. It seems to me that it would be a great addition to the guide if there was a photo of the one to avoid as well as the ones you can run.

Now they have chopped a lot of the trees down it would be quite easy to take a decent photo of it in all its syphonic wonder... it looks most syphon like at low levels.

You don't really need a photo to identify the hideous third drop, as it looks hideous and is the third one. The main flow drops into a bolder and it is full of syphons. A swimmer drowned there a few years back.

Here is a photo in low water from the top that I found on google, it shows the bolder, but as always the syphons can't really be seen. They are much more apparent when you look at the falls from the bottom.

Looks pretty horrendous! Hopefully someone will post a photo of the whole thing. If not I will next time i'm in the area (probably next year).
