Paddled this section on 2nd Jan 2015 in relatively high conditions. Great fun providing you don't mind ducking through overhanging branches etc. I would suggest that the best access point is actually from the public carpark in Exeford as there are no sheep fences or stretches of barbed wire from here down. It is possible to reach the river through the fence relatively easily.
The best egress is at the Exe valley caravan site where the very nice owner allowed us to park a trailer and two cars and turned down the offer of money from us!
Although the river never raises above grade 2, the trees and extreme remote nature of the river make it quite committing and not suitable as a novice whitewater trip.
