Re: Moor Brook
If the army are live firing on the range there will be a guard on the gate, they will usually let you through as far as the East Okement as the rivers described are not part of the range but you will not be able to go further upstream. They rarely shoot at weekends & if there's not enough rain you can knock off Dartmoor's two 600m Tors whilst you're up there - less than half an hour. Having said that the road upstream is no longer being maintained by Duchy Estates, so how far you can get will depend on the ground clearance of your vehicle & the driver's bravery (I haven't been up recently, but the first section was okay until you get to a collapse, which is probably far enough for most would be paddlers).

Re: Moor Brook
Absolutely awesome paddle. We ran it today as our plan for the Okement was postponed as there was a lot of water. I couldn't stop laughing. We started higher than the ford (though left the van there and walked up to just below a grill across the river at SX 587 916). This gives some grade 2 grass rapids before the suggested get in and is well worth it. The whole run from here to the bridge was 17 mins. The level was overflowing onto the road and about 4 inches below the bridge. it was rising rapidly as we paddled so probably was over the bridge shortly after we left.
Not for beginners as although looks friendly it is defo grade 3 near the end and lots of gorse to strain you if you fluff the lines.
I will post the video link shortly
