Christchurch loop

Post by timbr00 » Sun Jul 05, 2015 3:52 pm

We are hoping to paddle the Christchurch loop tomorrow from wick slipway. The website says to launch at high tide however the tides are against us tomorrow with low tide around 8 and Us Hoping to set off about 9:30. Is there another suitable launch site for lower tide or is this route not appropriate due to water levels within the harbour/loop?

Launching at low tide will probably work fine, however at low tide you will be unable to paddle around the loop.

It will be too low at the bridges to be able to paddle through, walking through is possible but take care of broken glass beneath bridges (where footpaths cross over the river) on the river bed, it has been known to cut through kayaking boots/shoes.
