Also, a few people have asked about the Friday and Saturday night lectures. Yes - there'll be a bar. We'll shut the bar during talks, but there's still a bar next door that people can hang out in if they really need a pint or want to have a chat. A perfect venue!

We're confirming the Saturday night DRF Talk Battle line-up at the moment...

It seems your having an auction. When will you list the prizes properly?

Hey Boop - most of the team have been hard at work sorting out the logistics and, indeed, we're going to be running a Mega Auction on Saturday night (and maybe online too) to raise funds for the North East Wales Search and Rescue team. I'm just waiting on the final details of what's been pledged so far, and I should be able to get a list up on Friday.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

We've had so much demand for coaching workshops that we've had to add more!

We've just added half day 'Grade 3 Kayak Skills' workshops with Nigel Garrett from UCLAN for only £25. Find out more on our website's coaching page: http://www.deeriverfestival.co.uk/coaching/

See you all there.

Here at Pyranha HQ we are very much looking forward to the Dee River Fest as its our local river!

We will be hosting the King of the Wave contest and have donated a brand new Jed to the auction that hopefully will raise lots of cash for the North East Wales Search and Rescue.

Hope to see lots of you there!

Cool stuff. I'm looking forward to this event, not been a good sized event on the Dee since the tours of 10 odd yeaars ago. Hopefully this one will rekindle the spirit of the past Dee Tours.

Just a quick note that both the Friday and Saturday night events are getting closer and closer to selling out. The room we're using has a fixed capacity, so if you're thinking about coming along this weekend, now's the time to book!

Friday 23 March, 7pm, Whitewaters hotel, Llangollen
  • Hanuman Airlines UK premiere, chronicling Sanu Babu Sunuwar’s epic Himilayan adventure. Babu climbed Everest, paraglided off the summit, flew to the Sun Kosi River, then paddled to the Indian Ocean.
  • Welsh Rivers guidebook Q&As. Tom Laws will explain exactly what it takes to write a guidebook – from research and design to collaboration and photography – and publicly unveil the first sample pages.
  • Paddling Pub Quiz. If you know your Microbats from your Mambas and your Storry from your Sladden, join in with a team of up to six paddlers to compete for the title of Ultimate Paddle Geek.
Saturday 24 March, 7pm, Whitewaters hotel, Llangollen

The DRF talk battle - ten minute talks where the audience vote for the most entertaining presentations:
  • Pete Catterall: Below and beyond Mount Kenya vs. Lowri Davies: Rumble in the Jungle – three weeks in Colombia
  • Sara James: Get up and go – travels with a kayak vs. Andy Evans: Dabbling and Babbling – following the crowd
  • Peter Wood and Tom McLay: Laos, the Mekong and culinary delights vs. Simon Tapley - action and adventure on the Yangtze
  • David Fairweather: An Indian Easter – exploring Uttrakhand vs. Chris Eastabrook - I left my boat in West Papua
Followed by the DRF Mega Auction!

Anyone know of any cheapish accommodation for 4-5 people in Llangollen with space for the weekend? We're supposed to be coming to the festival but I forgot I was supposed to be sorting the bunk house out and I'm struggling to find anywhere now, oops!

Cheers
Simon
