Two days of Playboating & Boater-X / Races with a BBQ & a Party at England's Premier Dam Release River

Join all who are interested for summer fun on England's premier dam release river - play, race or whatever... any craft, any approach - we really don't mind!

Brought to you by volunteers within Pennine CRC, Kool Kayakers and the wider network of canoe / kayak enthusiasts - supported by Silverbirch Canoes, Tootega Kayaks and Robin Hood Watersports - made possible by a partnership between British Canoeing and Yorkshire Water.

Tickets
We're using Eventbrite for advanced bookings for the weekend. Maximum of £12.50 a day or £25 for the weekend (including camping) for British Canoeing members and those attending as members of affiliated clubs. Significant discounts for juniors and volunteers!

Programme
If you want to PLAYBOAT you have ALMOST unlimited use of the river... but we've had the driest winter in 20 years and summer levels are down on normal so we have asked for stable (high) water levels:
  • Saturday 11am to 4pm
  • Sunday 10am to 3pm
You should have good levels ~ 30 minutes either side of these start / finish times.

Playboating Options
Saturday - go anywhere but watch out for / give way to:
  • Woodyard Sprints (very end of the river, 11am to 1pm)
  • Boater-X Qualifying (2nd Bridge through the big weir, 1pm to 3pm)
Sunday - go anywhere but watch out for / give way to:
  • Boater-X finals (5 minutes every hour, down to the 2nd bridge
  • Classic - from 2.30pm Sunday - timed runs / mass descent of the whole river
Racing Options
If you want to RACE please choose from the following:
  • Woodyard Sprints - Saturday from 11am
  • Boater-X Qualifying - Saturday from 1pm
  • Boater-X Finals - Sunday from 11am
  • Classic Descent - Sunday from 2.30pm
Shuttles
We will be offering discounted tickets to anyone willing to serve as a shuttle-bunny and anticipate being able to carry BOATS up the river both days. We have more places for boats than for paddlers - but without a boat, it's a gentle stroll back to the top!

Food
We will be serving teas, coffees, burgers, sausages, bacon rolls and so on from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and from 10am to 3pm Sunday.

Camping
Many of us will be camping at the Woodyard on the Saturday night - feel free to join us!
