Mountains High and Rivers Deep.
Pete asks “is the Nahanni or the Mountain River the best wilderness white water open canoe trip in the world?”
In a talk commissioned by Keswick Lecture Society, Peter Knowles (a famous local paddler) talks about two of his favourite trips - the Nahanni and Mountain Rivers rise in the Mackenzie Mountains in the far north of Canada and each offers 16 days of magnificent white water canoeing as they cut some spectacular wilderness gorges on their way to join the mighty Mackenzie river.
Expect prize winning images of spectacular mountains, dramatic gorges, a little on the delights of wilderness camping, wood fires (“Eat your heart out Ray Meares”), beautiful walks, a few rapids, the odd wild life encounter and some amusing and scary stories.
Entrance on the door £5.
7.30 p.m. Tuesday 1st March, Queens Hall, Keswick School. (parking in the school grounds).
