We are pleased to announce that the annual SCA Paddle show will be returning to Perth this year, along with the Tay Descent, on the weekend of 24th-26th October. With support from Homecoming Scotland 2014, the show will expand into a Festival of Paddlesport.
For those who have not been before, on Saturday and Sunday the show includes a large exhibition-style hall, where retailers will be selling a wide selection of kit, boats, books, DVDs, etc, while providers can entice you with trips to far-flung idyllic locations and courses to hone any and every skill you'd like to work on. There will also be talks and workshops throughout the weekend, on subjects ranging from how to choose and outfit a boat to tales of expeditions in wild and remote areas of the world.
The venue this year will be the Dewars Centre, which allows us to expand into the adjacent Perth Leisure Pool, where there will be displays of paddling prowess, as well as the opportunity for people to come and try new disciplines. We will also be using the pool from 6pm-9pm on the Friday, and there may be a talk that evening as well - details to follow.
Entry to the show will be free.
More details of the show can be found at http://www.scapaddleshow.org, while information about the Tay Descent is at http://www.taydescent.org. Both can be found on Facebook at SCAPaddleShowTayDescent, and on twitter via @SCAPaddleShow and @scottishcanoe.
Retailers and providers who are interested in having a stand can book directly via the website if they wish, or they can contact myself (Laura Bennitt) the Event Manager via email laura dot bennitt at canoescotland dot org.
Paddlers, paddle-makers, boat-builders, adventurers, or anyone else who like to either give a talk or make a suggestion for one can also contact me directly.
Hope to see you all there!
