Hi Fellow paddlers,
Iet me report that and all I have spoken to were impressed by this years special Paddlesports Session at the Kendal Mountain Festival. I thought it was a a great balance of speakers chatting about what makes all the different facets of our sport so special and why they do it - I found myself laughing and nodding listening to Sal Montgomery and Steve Backshaw taking the micky out of each other and talking about their recent trip to Kamchatka. The same for Olaf Obsommer, Bren Orton, Ben Stookesbury and other speakers who joined the session - some less famous local paddlers there as well!
So top marks to the team who organised this years Kendal Mountain Festival for taking the risk to run an online event and also including a Paddlesports Session. I thought that it really works well as an online session - quite something for an old dog paddler like me to say that I was inspired.!
It is available online until the 30th December - go to Kendal Mountain Festival.com - Specialist Sessions - Paddlesports Session, and then when buying your ticket, put in the discount code BRITISHCANOE20. I highly recommend it as enjoyable viewing and at under a tenner I think it is good value.
When you go in on the website, you will see that the Paddlesports Session is only one of an amazing number of widely diverse sessions and film collections. I have spoken to a couple of families who have bought the whole Festival Pass and they said that they are really enjoying the range of inspirational sessions and films.
Happy viewing, Pete Knowles.
