Sea Kayak Racing

Post by Geebee » Fri May 27, 2011 1:38 pm

I'm possibly helping to organise some races and I wondered, does anyone know who the best person is to speak to about sea kayak racing is. Sit in rather than on.

Thanks in advance
Glyn

Depends what your questions are. You should be able to track down the organisers of most of the recognised races via John Willacy's site http://www.performanceseakayak.co.uk/ and John will see this post too....

Agree, JW should give you an honest, realistic and practical insight.

What exactly is wrong with sitting on? Hope you're not going to exclude us!

Hi Glyn (Glyn B?),

Malcolm Acreman is the chap who masterminds the Poole Harbour Race each year, or at least he used to. You can almost certainly contact him through the PHCC website. He is a good man who has been involved in racing of many sorts over the years.

If you can't find him, let me know, and I'll make some calls.

Where is your race going to be? Devonshire somewhere?

Cheers,

Simon

Thanks for all the responses.

I'm involved on the periphary of the organisation of the Atlantic watersports games which is an international event for U21 year olds. This year it's held in N Devon, and although I'm predominantly involved in the surf event I was hoping to try and find out a little more about sea kayak racing participation. John's website has proved very useful.

I don't suppose there's a BCU co-ordinator or comittee for sea kayak racing, that I could point the organisers toward?

Thanks for all your help.

Glyn
