Hi,

im thinking of buying a k1 kayak, but concerned about storing it. (i will not fit my garage where i store my normal kayak).

Does anyone store them outside? in a cover ? secured on what?

many thanks for any advice

Hi
I've left boats on a lawn, tucked against a hedge to stop them blowing away, for 6-12 months before. They seemed to be pretty much fine, but I wouldn't want to do it with a really nice boat. I didn't have any problems with them blowing around even though they weren't secured.

A cover / boat bag would be a good idea in summer to keep the sun off so the UV doesn't damage the gel coat. Most covers aren't waterproof though so they go pretty horrible over winter. Vajda used to make a cover that was waterproof but I've got no idea if they still do.

I've know people leave boats on their car roof for several months too... not a great solution but it can work. You might be able to find a canoe club (or even rowing or sailing) that have racking space.

Hope some of that is useful
