About: Over 7 days participants will each construct a boat of specific traditional design from scratch. No previous experience is necessary though an aptitude for wood work and a can do attitude are helpful. All materials and tools are provided. On the 8th day Christophe and Fredrique take you out paddling and deal with Skin on Frame specifics during a day of coaching and paddling. We can send out a document detailing the 3 boats that are to be built but in brief:
1) West Greenland Qajaq, Surveyed by Harvey Golden and on display at the Greenland National Museum
2) Disko Bay Qajaq Surveyed by Harvey Golden and on display at the Canadian Museum of Civilisation
3) Aleut Baidarka Surveyed by John Brand and owned by the British Museum
Cost: £1950.00 (but you do go home with a boat). Accommodation and food are not provided. Unlimited travel on the Ferry to the Island is included. There are only 3 spaces/boats - though 1 fee/boat could be booked by 2 people (though of course the boat would be built to the physical specifications of only one of the 2 people). The course can only run if all 3 spaces are filled.
