Pelican Explorer DLX

Post by paddlersteve » Wed Jun 15, 2011 4:31 pm

I've just spotted a Pelican Explorer DLX for sale in Costco at the moment for for £295.

Having kayaked for 20 years but now with a young family we'll be looking to bring them into paddle sport with some lazy canoe trips on the Wye. Is this boat a bargain or a case of "you get what you pay for"

Any thoughts?

I hesitate to comment for fear of being called a canoe snob.

It is probably the cheapest way to get on the water in a canoe.

The boat is heavy and is not a very graceful paddle.

I recommend you invest in a Dacron reinforced undercarriage before loading it on your roof.

It will be highly durable.
